According to Mahabharat kal khatu shyam ji real name is “Barbarika” son of “Ghatotkacha” and grandson of “Bheem”.

In the Hindu folk tales before the Mahabharat battle began Barbarika says that he will take favour of weak side …load Krishna worried when he listen about this because its results will be dangerous. So shree krishna asked for Barbarika’s head ( sheesh daan ) ….he agreed for this Shree Krishna was too much happy by great sacrifice of Barbarika. Shri Krishna gives a boon to Barbarik that you will be known by my name as Shyam in Kali Yuga (present time ). And said that you will be worshiped by my name in kaliyug. Barbarika wanted to take favour of weak team in war so Krishna give him boon that you will be known as “haare ka shahra ”
Hence barbarika is known by the name of shyam

One the battle is over shree Krishna drowned the head of Barbarika in the Rupavati river When kaliyug begans the head of Barbarika was found buried in the village khatu in rajasthan It happens When a cow is crossing that place, then milk starts flowing automatically…all villagers are shocked after seeing this That time Roopsingh chouhan was the king of khatu The king had dream where he was asked to put the head inside the tample So that king bulid a tample and put that head inside it. such Khatu Shyam Temple was built.

How to reach khatu shyam ji

The temple of Khatu Shyam is situated in Khatu village, 80 km from Jaipur. The nearest railway station to reach Khatu Shyam Ji is Ringas. From where the distance of Baba’s temple is 18.5 km. After leaving the railway station, you can take a bus , taxi and jeep to the temple. If you are going by flight, then the nearest airport is Jaipur International Airport. The distance of the temple from here is 95 km. If you are going from Delhi to By Road Khatu Shyam Mandir, then it will take about 4 to 5 hours to reach you.
